Frederick Cook Elementary School - Plainfield
OHF Project Designer/PM - Johnson Jones
This featured project is an addition / renovation of Frederick Cook Elementary school in Plainfield. The project was designed by OHF Design while a partner at Johnson Jones Architects. The project consisted of partial demolition of an existing wing and renovation of the two story brick colonial structure which housed the administration area, existing gym and grades k through third. The addition a two story brick structure connected at the north wing housed the multi-media center, cafetorium and grades 4 through 8th.
The project is sited on a tree surrounded pond except on the school side which creates a beautiful vista. The selected position of the addition and design of an out door theater and kids play section in a semi-closed area took full advantage of this site feature. The major kid play area was adjacent to the lower grades in the existing structure while the theater area is off the multi-media center in the wing for the upper grades.

The project documentation was 100% complete but never built because of budget issues.
